If only they had a little more resolution in the 13 and a matte option, I could deal with the dual core and integrated graphics. As for the iMac, I'm getting everything maxed (except for RAM, which I'll do on my own), including the SSD + HDD. Every since installing the c300, I don't think I could go back to just having a traditional HDD, but after reading how tricky a self install of an SSD into an iMac, I'll let Apple do it lol. The OptiBay wasn't too bad, and it's easy enough to reverse if I need to bring it in for warranty issues.

This is definitely one of those "what language should I learn threads?", but I'm not a beginner. Let me give a little background: I graduated in 2007 with a degree in computer technology (not science) with a focus on software development and web development. While in school, I hired on with an automotive supplier as a contracted radio technician with hopes of getting my foot in the door with writing software. It's taken a while, but I'm now getting ready to be trained in our next product we're working on and will possibly be writing test scripts in C# .NET. I'm looking forward to the experience and knowledge I will gain but long-term, it's not where my passion is. I enjoy some web development, but haven't had much experience with it since college and haven't had any reason to delve deeper into it. Recently, I've had a few people approach me about building websites for them for a salary, so it's started to spark some interest into that field again. I have experience with several languages: Java, HTML, C#, ASP, SQL, PL/SQL, some Objective-C, C. But it's only at a very intermediate level, nothing advanced like Java servlets, Cocoa, or .NET framework specific. In my spare time, I'd like to delve deeper into something more advanced. I love the Mac platform for development just because a lot of things are built into the system already. Some languages I'm thinking of looking into are:
1. Java (specifically Tomcat and Spring)
2. Objective-C (Cocoa, iPhone)
3. Ruby (Rails)
I know #1 and #3 are more web specific and might be beneficial because of my background in web development, but I really like the surge going on with Objective-C and the Mac and iPhone platforms. But would this help on a career level? I want to pick one where there's a strong demand for it and something that puts food on the table. I'm not talking about just writing apps for the app store, but writing apps for businesses that use Macs. It just seems like it's hard to land an entry or junior level job out therre without some type of experience. My main experience now is just education and I'd like to dig deeper into these frameworks out there that are used to work on a project that might gain me experience to show employers. Are there advantages to learning one framework over another or should I just pick one and go with it? I know Java and .NET are used a lot in the enterprise, but it seems like there's no shortages of these developers out there. I never bought one because at the time I didn't have the money for it but I'm now considering buying one just to have it (sounds odd perhaps but why not; it's a beautiful piece of equipment and why not save them for posterity?).
I am not very familiar with Tiger and the earlier OSs and therefore wanted to run Leopard on it. I've read posts here and also articles at Lowendmac about Leopard performance on the 12" PB. It seems that performance would be "ok", at least for less intensive tasks (like video editing and encoding).
So I'm wondering what upgrades (well, beyond adding RAM) are available for the 12" PB (processors, logic boards, harddrives etc) these days?

Just for a quick check, I've got 10.2.6 and have the following Dock and Finder files in my /System/Library/CoreServices:
Finder, 368 bytes, version "Mac OS X Fake Finder 10.0", date 14/7/02, 11:34 PM.
Finder.app, 10 560 787 bytes, version "Mac OS X Finder 10.2.1", date 22/10/02, 11:35 AM.
Dock.app, 585 510 bytes, version "Dock 1.1.1", date 22/10/02, 11:25 AM.
I installed from the 10.2.1 CDs and updated to 10.2.6. Take a look at your files and see if they're the same size and version.
Edit: Just looked at the permissions, all 3 files are set to:

-schedule

Am I right in thinking that the only software I need is xcode 4 and a developers license to get the app into the app store?
I have some experience in coding, mainly HTML. From the screenshots of xcode 4, it looks similar to dreamweaver in that you can work in a GUI(add table by clicking on the table button) or by coding it.
Is it that simple, or am I getting it wrong?
Also, if I buy a developers license for a year, what happens after that year? Does the app stay in the store, but I cannot update it, or does it disappear from the app store?

I would agree with 2tb.. I use the 2tb Hitchai 7200 rpm drives..I have not had luck with the western digital green drives.
I also seen the 2tb Hitchai drives work in the Xserve G5, Xserve and xserve 2009. My Xserve2006 was very flacky.
I do think the 3tb drives will work in the 2008 or newer xserve, but I have not tested it. I will report back on that

Basically I want an iPhone 4, but am mostly around WiFi, I'd be ok with some data, but I really don't need it. I'm looking to buy the phone upfront, and maybe $20-$40 for service afterwards, but I'm open to compromise to keep it cheaper.
As of now, I'm using an iPod touch with textfree but I need more stability.
I would like unlimited texting (sms not needed) and maybe 500-1000 minutes a month... any suggestions?
Also, I have no idea how to do a carrier unlock (or when its needed, even) but I do know how to jailbreak.
ANY advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for the tip about PhoneGap.
The part I'm least confident about is the networking (mobile devices connecting to the Mac without any of them having Internet access). I'm not a networking expert so I'm unclear what I need to do.
